Red River

Red River: “A Real Mountain Town"

Red River has long been one of New Mexico’s favorite vacation spots. Located high in the Southern Rockies, part of the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range, at an elevation of 8750 feet and surrounded by Carson National Forest, Red River boasts pure mountain air and crystal clear waters. Just four square miles, Red River has been an oasis since the mid-1800s when it was a flourishing mining town. That spirit is still alive today in its hometown friendly population of just under 500 people.

In the summer visitors enjoy average temperatures of 75F during the day and a cool 38F at night. The Alpine scenery lends itself to camping, hiking, fishing, horseback riding and even 4-wheeling. Add to this a full calendar of community events such as parades and chili cook-offs. There is a wide variety of activities to enjoy – or just sit back and relax.

In the fall, amidst the beauty of turning aspens, take a drive. Red River is on one of New Mexico’s Scenic Byways, the Enchanted Circle, a beautiful 84-mile loop that includes Taos, Angel Fire and Eagle Nest.

Winter visitors experience temperatures ranging from 40F to 12F - perfect weather to enjoy the average snowfall of 200 inches. Red River Ski Area's slopes are right off Main Street and offer skiing and snowboarding. Or stay home, light a fire and enjoy the view!

From winter sports through summer adventures and fall foliage there is something for everyone in this charming mountain town: fresh air, friendly people, fun events, festivals AND even a river running through it – the Red River.

Located in the heart of Red River on historic Main Street, The Peaks at Town Center offers a prime affordable opportunity  to own a piece of this enchantment; an affordable opportunity to experience a worry- free vacation in a “real mountain town” surrounded by nature and its year round splendor. All the while, you can enjoy the conveniences of  a Main Street address – within walking distance of  the river, the ski slopes, parks, shops, galleries, restaurants, and coffee shops.
